Saudi Arabia’s grand ambitions for a “megacity” are set to deliver a huge boost to the fortunes of Arm Holdings.
The Cambridge-based chip designer is in talks with the country’s government about using its technology to help to develop Neom, a vast project at the head of the Red Sea. The company hopes its chips will power a new generation of robotics and artificial intelligence there.
Neom is the $500 billion vision of a vast, ultra-modern metropolis of 10,000 square miles, 33 times bigger than New York City, a centre for renewable energy and technology stretching into both Jordan and Egypt. It is part of wider efforts to diversify the Saudi economy away from oil.
